Sleeping: you are still a great sleeper: your bed time is around 8/8:30PM and you sleep until 7/7:30AM. you rarely cry when we leave your room at night now – you just play around for a bit and then boom, you are asleep. probably has something to do with the fact that you have already dropped down to 1 nap a day like a big boy! for a handful of weeks it was taking you about an hour or longer to fall asleep for your morning nap – you just seemed totally uninterested and just wanted to play in your crib. by the time you were falling asleep for your “morning nap” it was closer to 11:30AM and then you would sleep until 1:30/2PM and then be awake for the rest of the afternoon and evening. it took a few weeks to get you used to the one nap a day thing. sometimes you will pass out in the car for like 5 minutes because you are so tired (and I worry that it will spoil your nap), but you still end up taking a nap (2-3 hours) after lunch without fail. you and your brother are successfully on the same nap schedule which is amazing!
Eating: you are such a good little eater! maybe some of that will rub off on your big brother as you continue to grow and grow and grow. two egg omelet with cheese and meatball? no problem for you to polish off. you eat adult sized portions quite frequently. your favorite foods lately are PEAS, omelets, peanut butter crackers, chicken sausage, cheeseburger, clementines, apples, bananas, pancakes, sweet potato fries, potato pancakes, etc. you still drink three 6-8 oz bottles a day: first between breakfast and lunch, second before nap and third before bedtime.
Teeth: your 8th tooth has finally poked through! that evens you out to 4 on the top front and 4 on the bottom front. i think you have been teething for a few weeks now off and on which makes me think maybe some of your 1st year molars have been bothering you. you’ve been gnawing on your fingers lately and jamming them way back into your sides of your mouth.
Development and play: you have been free standing for quite some time now, and just today you’ve added clapping while free standing. you are still tentatively taking steps here and there, but love to cruise along or hold our hands while you walk. you know how to do cheers now with your sippy cup and laugh every time. you are starting to wave hi and bye and you make the sounds to blow kisses (“muah”), but don’t have the hand movement down yet. you love to clap and you always clap when we say “yay, willy!” you love to get your feet tickled by dad and give out the best belly laughs from that. you LOVE getting into your brother’s stuff (we call you will-zilla) and sitting next to him while he plays with certain things. your brother is getting a little more possessive of his toys and yanks things out of your hands at times, but you are so laid back i don’t think it will be a problem to distract you with a new toy. you learned how to stack rings and just started to place those colored shapes into the corresponding holes. you say mama, dada, touch, light and baba (for bottle i think). you know when you get into trouble and when we shake our heads no you shake your head no, too. you have started to climb and stand on Noah’s chair and love trying to climb those first few stairs (we don’t really let you though, sorry). you are obsessed with opening the baby gates, walking through them and then closing and latching them. you still will NOT hold your own bottle (except with dad) which your teachers (and I) just think is so hilarious and endearing.
Temperament: you are SUCH a little love. you like to check in with me all the time, which i adore. you go off and play for a few minutes, and then crawl back to me and give me a hug and then go off and play again on repeat. you easily run out of patience sitting in your highchair for too long after meals and have been yelling when you are done. you don’t like to play in your pack and play if i am in the house (you will stand there screaming and crying), but apparently if i’m not home you play in it just fine (of course). you are just so easy to smile and laugh – i am addicted to kissing you and squeezing you – you are so huggable! you are a little mama’s boy, that’s for sure.
Random: you and your brother had some fun in the leave piles this month – i’m sorry your brother kept dropping leaves on you! you’ve been riding in the big blue truck and playing around with the lawnmower toy lately. bath time is still a favorite of yours – you are out of control when you splash! you have started to interact more with the dog and try to play with him by handing him his toys, beyond adorable. in just a couple short weeks you are going to be ONE. fastest year yet and certainly the most fun now that you have joined the family – you have made us so happy, little man. stop getting so big so fast! OK now onto the pics:
