Sleeping: you are still an amazing little sleeper – bed time at 8/8:30 and wake up at 7/7:30, playing happily (and quietly) in your crib until we open the door.  we’ve been leaving a board book in your crib when we put you to bed and you read it before going to bed and upon waking.  we had a ton of late nights over the holidays and you went with the flow contently, though we were all happy to get back to the normal routine again at home.  your nap schedule is still pretty fluid: most times you take a solid 2-2.5 hour nap in the afternoon at the same time as Noah, but some days you need to be put down earlier than Noah and you end up sleeping from 11-1:30 and that’s it for the day until bedtime.  you prefer to sleep on your tummy and immediate roll onto your belly when we put you in your crib.  we read a couple books before bed and then i sing twinkle twinkle and lay you down and you fall asleep easily on your own, mostly without protest.  you’ve begun laying your head down on my shoulder and snuggling your arms under your belly when i hold you and i love it!

Eating: your favorite foods of late are omelets with bacon bits and cheese, hot dogs and baked beans, blueberries, bananas, tangelos, pinto beans, clementines, sweet corn, ALLTHECRACKERS, cheeseburger, french toast, bacon…there is little you don’t like!

Teeth: you have 4 front teeth on top and 4 front teeth on the bottom, the beginnings of your first year molars on top and bottom and recently the beginnings of all 4 of your canine teeth.  apparently you are built for eating and chomping.  and we really should think about starting to brush your teeth…

Development and play: you really started walking full time while we were n NJ at the end of December, right around your 13 month mark, and you haven’t looked back.  you love to parade around carrying a toy.  you like to climb anything you can – you enjoy climbing up to look out the window at the birds.  you try to climb the stairs, but we don’t let you get more than a stair or two up (luckily you aren’t as persistent as your brother was at this age).  you’ve definitely started appreciating cause and effect and love pushing a button on a toy to make a noise.  you make a lot of noise in the car and in your highchair, but when we’re playing at home you don’t say too much.  you have a few words (we think) which are touch, off, cracker, bath, taco, light, uh oh, cheese, cheers.  your school is moving you up to the toddler room in february because you seem a little bored with the babies (who, mind you, are all right around your age).  you are really into books now, but if you don’t recognize the book you will just try to close our fingers inside until we pick a different one.  you use cars and trucks correctly and drive them on the floor while making vrrooom sounds.  you love opening cabinets in the kitchen, looking inside, and then closing them again.  you like to play with charlie and “throw” his toys for him, though they don’t go too far.  you know how to “dance” which to you is dropping your butt down and squatting and then standing up.  you had your first sledding experience last weekend and seemed to enjoy it.  you’ve grabbed handfuls of dirt from the house plant a few times.  you follow your brother everywhere, especially into the bathroom.

Temperament: you’re turning into a little bully with your big brother, grabbing his shirt or hair and yanking down when Noah takes a toy away from you, but you don’t know how else to say STOP THAT!  you are so happy most of the time, until you fall down or drop something and then you yell about it.  sometimes you complain about being put into your car seat or into the stroller, but then you calm down.  you are usually all smiles unless you are tired or hungry.  when you are overtired and need a nap you certainly let us know it by throwing a fit about everything!  then it’s all smiles again after getting some sleep.  you are easily passed between people, though if you’re in a mood then you will sometimes get upset if someone you love walks out of the room.

Random: you love splashing with your brother at bath time!  you like to say cheers with your drink.  you always take your socks off when you’re in bed and then throw them over the edge of your crib.  you like feeding me.  this is by far the most fun age yet – you are such a happy funny little guy!  you crack us up daily.
