8/25/14:

Pete and I went to Emerson Hospital today to have another ultrasound done and meet with the perinatologist (who happens to be a Brigham & Women doctor).  The ultrasound technician was really friendly and we chatted about our kids and dogs.  The baby looked perfectly healthy and she confirmed again it was a boy.  Then the perinatologist came in to repeat the ultrasound and check on the placenta location and cervix status.  She confirmed it was still a complete placenta previa, but that the placenta could potentially move as the baby and uterus grow.  She didn’t really have the best bedside manner, but she seemed to know her stuff – she was very concise and short.  She said I should come back for another ultrasound in 6 weeks to check progress.  And that was that.  No more mention of bed rest or other scary things.  I guess there is no use worrying about anything until we know for sure the placenta isn’t going to move.  If the placenta still hasn’t moved at the next ultrasound it will be less likely to move out of the way according to the doctor.  She said to call if there was any bleeding.  People at work have been notified and the HR girl here is looking into whether or not I can sign up for a short term disability policy.
