Sleeping: you outgrew your Merlin suit about 6 weeks ago when you started to roll over in it. you’ve been sleeping in the sleep sack ever since and it was not a hard transition at all, thank goodness. you generally sleep on your tummy and lately (fingers crossed) you are sleeping completely through the night. you are still taking 2 naps a day, first one around 10AM and the second one around 2PM, give or take a half hour or so depending on when you wake for the day and when you’ve woken up from your first nap. bedtime is by 8:30AM and you typically wake up for the day around 7/7:30AM. we’ve been out and about a lot on my days off this summer and you are forced to nap when you can in the car set, sometimes only catching 10 minutes here and there and sometimes skipping the morning nap entirely, falling asleep on the way home in the car and then staying asleep in the car seat up in your room for a couple hours! you usually only take 1 long nap or two quick naps at daycare. on the days you only nap once at daycare you usually fall asleep in the car on the way home from daycare since you are so tired. you are getting a little better with the bedtime routine – we have been letting you cry it out and the time spent crying seems to lessen with each passing week. you do not suck your thumb or use a pacifier. instead, you seem to stuff your lovey blankies in your mouth. we recently put a couple stuffed animals in your crib to keep you company, along with your 4 lovey blankets.
Eating: you stopped nursing around 7.5 months and we haven’t looked back. it is a bit of a relief since now I am free to work out when I want, eat and drink what I want when I want, etc. you are loving REAL solid foods! so far you’ve tried: avocado, blueberries, raspberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, banana, cucumber, cheese, blueberry waffles, mashed potatoes, rice, hamburger, chicken, pulled pork, mac n cheese, chicken sausage, cheerios, kix, ritz crackers, graham crackers, etc. you love everything crunchy just like your brother. you get at least 3-4 bottles of formula a day and have been learning how to use a sippy cup with water in it.
Teeth: you now have 7 teeth! 3 on the bottom and 4 on the top.
Development and play: you have been sitting up without assistance for about a month now and it’s great – no more falling forward or backward and smacking your head on the floor! you are also now on the move – crawling and pulling up all over the place (time to put those baby gates back up, honey!). you are even standing up and holding onto things with one hand. you still enjoy your exersaucer and jumperoo, especially now that you know how to jump! you go crazy in there. you smack toys together and put everything in your mouth. you are trying to “play” with your brother – which annoys him to no end because playing to you = destruction of Noah’s towers or toys. the look on your face as you crawl from one room to the next on your own is priceless – you are so happy! you are talking up a storm – lots of dadadadas and yayayayas and ish’s.
Temperament: you are still my little chilly willy – “everything is awesome!” except, that is, when you are going to bed, then everything is not awesome. you haven’t shown any further signs of separation anxiety. you can be passed around to different people – you are very social. you smile when people talk to you. you rarely put up a stink unless you are tired and/or really hungry – then you fuss a bit, usually it’s in the high chair when you are demanding more food or saying that you don’t want that yucky goop. my friends comment that it’s easy to forget that you are even here because you are so content and quiet! you laugh hysterically at your brother and think he’s the funniest person on the planet. you like to give kisses and squeeze our faces and necks. you giggle every time i kiss your chest, neck or belly and it’s the best sound ever.
Random: you love the beach, ocean, ponds, and pools and have been eating your fair share of sand, both wet and dry. you have plenty of fun at bath time and have been making huge splashes in the water. you are enjoying the stroller much more now and seem to like sitting next to your brother. you still are able to fall asleep in the carrier facing in – that’s the only way you’ve been napping when we go to the beach. you are wonderful on car trips – seriously, we lucked out with you. you are such a love!!
