I have to get better about posting these updates on time – I started writing this when you were 9 months, but I am posting it close to your 10 month mark, oops.

Sleeping: with the exception of being sick for a week during our Cape trip in early September, you have been sleeping consistently through the night for quite some time now.  your bed time is around 8/8:30PM and we usually don’t hear from you again until 7/7:30AM.  putting you to bed has been much easier – you are getting used to your bedtime routine of bath, bottle, and bed.  you have been crying less when we leave the room and you are much better at putting yourself to sleep at night (naps are never usually a problem, we put you in the crib awake and you fuss or play for a bit and then crash).  when you wake up you are usually happy and chatty, but when you were sick you were waking up with a dirty diaper and were so crabby.  you are still taking 2 naps a day, first one around 10AM and the second one around 2PM (give or take, all depends on wake up times).  you usually have 2.5-3 hours of awake time and then you start rubbing your eyes and losing coordination.  we’ve successfully gotten you and your brother to nap at the same time in the afternoons at home which has been clutch for parent reboot time!  you now sleep in the sleep sack with the holes for your feet since you like to stand up after waking.

Eating: you are full speed ahead with food!  there is seriously nothing you snub (except pineapple?) – you eat everything we give you.  some recent meals include: egg salad sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, salmon salad, taylor ham and cheese omelet, sweet potato pancake, red pepper, steak, hot dog, tater tots, ritzy chicken, strawberry yogurt smoothie, pesto pasta, margarita pizza, frittata, etc.  you are still drinking at least three 7-8 oz bottles a day, but the focus is definitely more on solid meals.  you get your bottles before naps and bed and guzzle them down with a smile.

Teeth: you are still stuck at 7 teeth!  3 on the bottom and 4 on the top.  i think you’ve been teething a little this week and last night you moaned off and on for a couple hours.

Development and play: you are such a fast crawler!  you love nothing more than to explore every room in the house and try pulling up on everything.  you like when your brother gets on the ground and crawls with you.  you are enjoying the baby gates in the kitchen and just stand there banging your hand on them to make noise.  you know that the dog bowl is off limits.  i think you are going to be more trouble than your brother was!  you play with trucks and buses on the ground and roll them back and forth.  you still like to put everything in your mouth.  you seem to prefer Noah’s toys and Noah seems to prefer all of your baby toys!  you get from crawl to seated position with complete ease and have been doing that for a long time.  you are getting braver – while standing up and holding onto something you let go with your hands and free stand for a second before falling.  it looks like you are rock climbing on the kitchen cabinets when you reach with your hand to grab the next knob over and then your leg follows.  i bet you’ll be an early walker like your brother.  you seem to be more aware of the other babies in your classroom.  you are learning how to clap and you can also cluck your tongue.  you definitely understand some words already – case in point when i ask you “where are the boats” you immediately turn to look at the boat mobile above your bed.  you also say “uh oh” when you drop something – it’s so funny!

Temperament: you are so laid back and go with the flow – i’d say you are happy 99% of the time.  you go to new people very easily – you did great with our first non-family babysitter, Alicia.  we are looking forward to using her for some random date nights.  you only cry if you’re really tired or hungry, but most of the time you are all smiles.  there have been times when you just want to be held and i usually just throw you into the carrier front facing.  you definitely prefer to be around people.  you can be just fine playing in your jumperoo but if i walk into the room you start whining to get out.  you are a little tentative when you are around loud noises like vacuums and dustbusters.  your teachers all love how affectionate you are – you give them big smooches all day long.  such a lady killer!

Random: you’re still excellent in the car – even if you don’t have a toy to keep yourself occupied.  you go crazy for bath time and love when you get to take a bath with your big brother, though he doesn’t share his bath toys very well with you!  you are interacting more with your stuffed animals when you’re in your crib, it’s very cute.  you are the comic relief in our crazy and hectic lives and we love you for that!  here are some favorite pics from this month:
