Happy two months, kiddo! Well, we made it two full months without a poop explosion. You waited until exactly two months to the day for your first poop back, and for that, we thank you. Your dad wanted to toss your outfit in the trash, but I convinced him that it was salvageable.
So far, you are a pretty easy baby the majority of the time. You are fine with us putting you down in the pack and play, crib, swing or rock and play to tend to your brother and do household chores and you entertain yourself just fine (which is funny, because I rarely ever put your brother down as I felt like I was neglecting him!). You seem to enjoy eating and, up until the past week, nap during the day just fine, usually without difficulty. You travel well in the car. You only cry when you are hungry, tired, bored or overstimulated. Putting you to bed at night has been a little rough, but we’ve been trying to figure out a bedtime routine – problem is sticking to it. Of course, I forget what we used to do with Noah at this age so no help there! It seems overall like you are a little easier of a baby than your brother was, but I have forgotten so much of Noah’s first year. I think Noah was a better sleeper (slept through the night at 7 weeks if I recall). You move and wiggle and are just as alert as your brother was at this age.
We are following what’s called the E.A.S.Y. routine so far: E=eat, A=activity, S=sleep, and Y=you time (or rather me time), and it’s going well. There are 5 types of babies according to the author of The Secrets of the Baby Whisperer: angel babies, textbook babies, spirited babies, touchy babies and grumpy babies. The descriptions for all can be found here. I took the quiz and you got textbook baby, but there are certain traits you have that make me think you are sort of spirited – specifically these lines “Her body language tends to be a bit jerky. Karen often needs to be swaddled to get to sleep, because her flailing arms and legs keep her up and over stimulated. If she starts crying and the cycle is not interrupted, it’s like a point of no return, and her crying leads to more crying until she’s reached a fever pitch of rage” – maybe you are a combination of both textbook and spirited. I think your brother was a combination of textbook/spirited/and maybe even a little bit of grumpy baby (especially the old soul part!).
