…is what we repeated many times yesterday at the annual UNH holiday party.  Noah was Mr. Fussy Pants and required us to depart way sooner than we would have liked!  He would not drink his bottle or eat dinner, cried when we held him, cried when other people held him, just not in a good mood period.

We just thought he was super tired and maybe teething…he fell asleep promptly on the car ride home, but then continued his fussiness at home.  We drugged him with some infant Tylenol and homeopathic hyland’s teething tablets and put him down pretty early (8pm).  He barely ate anything throughout the day so we figured we’d be seeing him again at some point during the night to eat.  Sure enough, just as Pete and I were getting ready for bed he woke up and started fussing again.  He ate three ounces of milk and then we gave him more Tylenol and teething tablets.  He tossed and turned the entire rest of the night.  Slept two hours here and maybe two hours there, with lots of whining in between.

I should have taken him temperature at that point, but I guess I still thought it was teeth.  After more fussy time with little eating on Noah’s behalf this morning (and with what appears to be a full blown cold – sneezing, coughing, snot, etc.), I took his temperature at 8:30AM and it was 100.7.  We tried a nap since he was rubbing his eyes and yawning like crazy, but he fussed almost the entire time.  Got him out of his crib and he barely ate more than a few sips of milk and water, but seemed happy enough playing a bit.  We just took his temperature again at 11AM and it was up to 101.5!  We gave him another dose of Tylenol and teething tablets and attempted to give him a bottle (which we was too upset, tired, and cranky to drink) and put him down for another attempted nap.  He was quiet for maybe 10 minutes?  Now is fussing again.  Sleep baby, sleep!  Might try some infant motrin next – have to run to CVS to pick some up.

This is going to be a long long day (and week), especially if I can’t go to our usual playgroups and gym time! Fingers crossed this is a quick virus!
