I saw the OB on 2/28/12. Asked her the following questions and wrote down her answers:

*Yoga positions to avoid? Avoid anything on back & stomach and anything that feels uncomfortable

*Liver function test results – what do they mean? My PCP recommended getting blood drawn at next OB appointment. Got blood drawn 2/28/12, results showed slightly elevated numbers, but OB isn’t concerned

*Pediatrician – do I need one around home or will I bring baby into Vincent at first? Should find a pediatrician close to home

*Birth plan – do we need to have one? You really just need to know who you want in room, if husband wants to cut the cord, if you want the baby on your chest after it’s born, if you’re going to breastfeed, medical intervention, etc.

*What can I expect over the next 4 weeks? To grow bigger, feel more movement

*Fundal height measurement? Right on track – normal

*Cord blood banking – what is it? She doesn’t recommend, it is a sample of the umbilical cord that is stored in case your child has something like leukemia or another disease where one might need a cord blood transfusion or whatever, costs a lot of money like $2000 and then an additional annual storage fee, she said like 25% of parents do it, but that’s because MGH area is a more wealthy clientele and parents can afford it

*Round ligament pain – how to relieve? Round ligament pain is in the front and intermittent, sciatica is shooting pain down your leg, she thinks this pain is due to hips widening and relaxin and bones moving, etc.

*Can I take Beano for gas? Yes

*Tylenol – PCP said not to take that due to liver function test results. I can take Tylenol

*Spotting/brown discharge – ok? Normal pregnancy stuff from cervix, unless it’s accompanied by abdominal pain, cramping, lots of blood like period blood, she isn’t too concerned

I weighed in at 135lbs! Baby’s heart rate was in the 140s and sounded perfect. Blood pressure was normal.
