Went in for a glucose screening test on 3/26/12 and they make you drink this really sugary drink as quickly as you can (orange flavored) and then they tell you not to eat or drink anything besides water for the next hour. At the end of the hour they take some blood to test how your body processed the sugar. I guess gestational diabetes sometimes develops in pregnant women so they test everyone – if you fail this test they make you come back and do a 3 hour test and you have to alter your diet before the test. I was supposed to have received a phone call if there were issues so thankfully I think I should be in the clear!

BP was 120/70 and weight was 142lbs – eek, one too many pina coladas on vacation I guess! According to my doctor though, I’m still right on track with weight gain, but that is going with my first “official pregnancy weigh in” at 121lbs so they have me gaining 21lbs in 26+ weeks (when pre-pregnancy I actually weighed 116.5lbs – which starting weight are you supposed to use I wonder?).

Sadly I think I had my last run at 24-25w – it just feels too awkward now, all the bouncing and the pain in my butt and hamstrings. Yoga has been tough lately, too – so I haven’t done many classes this month (have been exceptionally busy though). Allegedly they are bringing in a prenatal yoga instructor starting in late April/early May so I am psyched to try that class. Swam laps a couple times in Mexico and that felt awesome. Will look into lap swimming around Acton. When we got home from Mexico was really feeling lazy so I didn’t exercise too much – went for a couple short walks at lunch with Rachel the last week in March. Tried acupuncture at a yoga/acupuncture workshop with Lauren on a Friday night – will have to try acupuncture again, they didn’t give me the normal treatment as I was pregnant and it was tough laying on my back for 25+ minutes while meditating.

Sleep – I think I haven’t been able to sleep too well lately because of the lack of physical exercise (not to mention the expanding belly and punches and kicks from baby). I finally broke down and got one of those body pillows. Creates a little wall between Pete and I in the bed which is annoying, but looking forward to testing it out.

Fun news!!  Karen and Doug are pregnant and due in late September/early October!  They sent us a package that we received the night before we left for Mexico and in it was an outfit for the baby and then a little deeper was a photo frame with “cousins” on it and a picture of their ultrasound.  We are so excited for them and also for our kid to have a cousin so close in age.  Congrats, guys!!
